Ornaments, Opportunity, and Chocolate: What a Year

Ornaments, Opportunity, and Chocolate: What a Year

Posted by Jason Moldan on

The holiday season brings a moment of pause for me — a time to reflect, breathe, and appreciate just how far this journey has taken me.

This year, I find myself reflecting on blessings big and small — the luck of timing, the courage to step toward a needed life change, and the incredible opportunity to be part of something as special as the St. Croix Chocolate Company. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many of our customers, fans, and curious visitors who stop in just to see what’s new in the shop. Each conversation, every smile, has reminded me what community really means.

I’m deeply grateful for the community of Marine on St. Croix — your warmth, encouragement, and support have meant everything during this transition. And to our amazing staff who stayed through the change and poured their hearts into every chocolate we make: thank you. Change is never easy, but with this team, it became something beautiful.

I also think often about my family — my wife and children, who show up after hours and on weekends to help out at the shop; my extended family, who have spent countless hours with me in the kitchen; and my friends who packed advent calendars, lent tools, hauled boxes, and showed up to remodel. I truly could not have done this without you.

The other night, I sat by the fire, admiring our Christmas tree — a late season purchase, slightly Charlie Brown–style tree. But it’s perfect. Sitting there with my family, with my daughter home from college, I was reminded of our traditions. Each year we collect an ornament from wherever we’ve traveled together — each one a tiny memory of the places we’ve explored. The second tradition is adding an ornament that represents each of us for the year.

Christmas tree and ornaments The tree is getting pretty full these days. This year, my daughter made me a St. Croix Chocolate ornament — simple, beautiful, and deeply meaningful. It represents this chapter: taking a chance on myself, chasing a dream, and being lifted by the love and support of this incredible community.

What a year it has been. As we lean into 2026, I can’t wait to see what we’ll create together — new flavors, new ideas, and more shared moments that make life so enjoyable.

Wishing you and yours a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, wonder, and a little chocolate magic.
